The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department has released some information in connection to yesterday’s crash on Highway 310.
Major of Operations, Jason Orth says that just before 3 p.m. deputies were dispatched to Highway 310 and County Road R. where a dump truck operated by a 21-year-old Francis Creek man was eastbound on 310.
He approached a “legally stopped” vehicle waiting for westbound traffic to clear to make a left-hand turn into a driveway. In his attempt to avoid that vehicle he proceeded into the southbound ditch, colliding with a utility pole. The impact caused the pole to be severed requiring Wisconsin Public Service crews to be summoned to make repairs closing an Eastbound lane of 310 for approximately six hours.
The 21-year-old Francis Creek man was cited for inattentive driving.
No injuries were reported. The Sheriffs Office anticipates completing their investigation later this afternoon.
