The Wisconsin Counties Association says the state could see a natural population decline within the next 15 years. According to WCA division Forward Analytics, the fertility rate for Wisconsin women has fallen to its lowest since 2002, meaning the death rate could soon surpass the birth rate in the state. Forward Analytics says the birth rate could be reversed if Millennials are simply waiting until their 30’s to have children. If not, this would be the first natural population decline in a generation.
