Valders is heading back to the WIAA State Boys Cross Country Championships. The Vikings captured the Division-2 Sectional at Two Rivers on Saturday with 32 points. Runnerup Notre Dame Academy had 40 points. Valders had 4 runners among the top 8 finishers in individual champion Shane Griepentrog, Clay Taylor 2nd, Nate Griepentrog 6th and Mitchel Braun #8.
Xavier wins the Girls team title Two Rivers was 3rd and Valders 9th. Anna Gallagher of the Raiders was the second best individual finisher and she qualifies for State at Wisconsin Rapids.
In the Division-1 Cross Country Sectional at Meadow Links Golf Course, Manitowoc Lincoln finished 4th on the Boys side, with the Ships best runner, junior Max Bailey, qualifying for State with a career best time on the 5,000 meter course.
The Lincoln Girls placed 10th in their competition and Senior Libby Meyer wound up 11th, also with a career best effort, but she falls 8-seconds short of advancing to State.
In the Division-3 Sectional at the ‘Links’…Manitowoc Lutheran’s Brooklyn Luebke is a Sectional champion
With a new school record…to earn a trip to the State meet, as the lancer girls were 7th out of 22-schools.
And, senior Nolan Winter is now a 3-time state qualifier for the lancer boys as he was 9th individually.
The Lutheran boys came in 4th as a team.
