Manitowoc’s unemployment rate remains unchanged while Manitowoc County’s jobless numbers declined slightly in September. Numbers released this afternoon by the State Department of Workforce Development show two-point-nine percent of the county workforce was unemployed. That down from three-point-two percent in August but a sixth-tenth of a percent increase from last September’s number of two-point-three percent. Manitowoc’s jobless rate for last month was three-point-three percent—the same as August and a significant increase from September 2018’s rate of two-point-six percent. Preliminary September 2019 unemployment rates declined or remained unchanged in the state’s 33 largest cities and all 72 counties. However, unemployment rates have increased in all 72 counties and 32 of Wisconsin’s 33 largest cities over the last year.
