The City of Manitowoc now has a new winter parking ordinance which, will go into effect on December 1st. Jeremiah Novak the chair of the Public Infrastructure Committee explained that; parking is allowed on City Streets unless a snow event or snow emergency is declared by the city of Manitowoc. He explained that Mayor Justin Nickels will inform the public via email, radio, and social media that the ban will be in place by 4:00 p.m. the evening prior to a potential snow situation.
While residents can park on city streets during the winter months, there will be a new fine issued if you are parking during a snow event or snow emergency. Novak told SeehaferNews.com, “It will be a $50 fine if you do during a regular snow event, but if it’s a snow emergency it is $75.”
This new parking ordinance was adopted after much input from City of Manitowoc residents via social media.
