The two local competitors at the WIAA State Girls Individual Tennis Tournament dropped their first round matches yesterday.
In the Division-1 bracket at Nielsen Indoor Stadium, Lincoln High School’s Kendra Peterson, was defeated by Cindy Bain of New Berlin Eisenhower 6-4-, 4-6 and 10-7 in a third-set tiebreaker. The Ships junior leaves Madison with a 20-9 record.
In Division-2 action last night, Kiel’s Kaytlyn Hartfield fell to Becky Larrain of Newman Catholic 6-2, 6-3. The Purple Raiders senior capped off a 14-3 season.
