State Senator Andre Jacque had a big day of him today, as a pair of bills he penned were heard by the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety. First up was the Protecting Animals of Wisconsin (PAW) Act, which passed the Senate last week. The PAW Act would make an act of bestiality a felony sex crime and would give Wisconsin some of the strongest anti animal abuse laws in the country. The second was the Sexual Assault Victim Bill of Rights. This bill creates strong protections for survivors of assault, and makes Wisconsin the 21st state to adopt these protections in law. The hearings began at 9:00 this morning.
