A bill signed into law Wednesday requires local and state governments, and educational institutions, to pay the premiums for the spouses and children of emergency responders killed in the line of duty. Governor Tony Evers signed the measure Wednesday. Evers says ensuring those survivors have coverage is the least officials can do for fallen police officers and emergency medical workers. Coverage would last until spouses turn 65 and children turn 26.
