
Manitowoc County Emergency Services, together with response and planning personnel from various entities have been working together as a steering committee to update the County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Development of the plan update is being led by the County Emergency Services Department with the Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission facilitating the process and writing the plan under the direction of the steering committee.
The steering committee is made up of personnel from County Departments, including Planning and Zoning and the Health Department, utilities, and various municipalities. Hazard mitigation planning involves developing a set of actions designed to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from hazards and their effects.
A public informational meeting to present the draft plan will be held on November 11th, from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Manitowoc County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located at 1024 S 9th Street in Manitowoc.
