The Sheboygan Police Department has released the identity of the 9 year old boy that was struck and killed by a city garbage truck on Wednesday. Roman Martin was riding his bike on the sidewalk on 14th Street, and as he was crossing the street at Center Avenue, the garbage truck turned onto Center, and struck him. Roman was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. No word on any punishment or legal action being taken against the 35 year old driver of the truck, or the 55 year old city worker that was picking up the trash off the back of the truck. The Principal of St. Paul Lutheran School, where Roman was a student, commented that he was a “kind, mart and fun loving boy”, and that he will be missed immensely.
