Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer last night delivered his 2020 budget proposal to the County Board of Supervisors. Ziegelbauer explains in a news release the plan calls for the typical county taxpayer to see a slight decrease in the county tax while delivering high-quality services. He said it’ll also keep the debt low, less than 10% of the state statutory maximum limit, continue with a robust capital improvement program, and will maintain our facilities, county trunk roads, and equipment.
Ziegelbauer stated their financial plan is working. After concentrating on big projects the last 3-years, his budget in 2020 will focus on transportation with 14 miles of road resurfacing, parks improvements especially at Maribel Caves, and responding to the Opioid Crisis with 5-new positions in the Human Services Department.
A public hearing on next year’s proposed county budget is scheduled for Monday night, October 28th at 6:30 in the Heritage center, North 18th and Michigan Avenue in Manitowoc.
