The Environmental Park Director of Ellwood H. May Environmental Park in Sheboygan is calling on the public to assist him in taking inventory of the public trees in participating Sheboygan County townships. David Kuckuk is leading the charge and will ensure volunteers are taught how to identify species not only by leaves, but through examining other characteristics such as texture, smell, growth form, and habitat. Volunteers will put their new skills into action during the weeks immediately following the training session, with flexible times and dates depending on volunteer availability. Data collected will be used to inform management plans to help towns mitigate the impact of the Emerald Ash Borer. Those interested in helping out, should send an email to Kendra@LNRP.org.
