Mercury Racing unveiled its new 4.6-liter 450R V8 FourStroke outboard in June 2019. Today the powerful, supercharged engine that is handcrafted in Fond du Lac, Wis., finds itself in the Top Four of the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest. The competition, sponsored annually by the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, highlights the state’s manufacturing industry that employs one of every five people in Wisconsin. The 2019 Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest started with 150 nominees and collected more than 210,000 votes in the first three rounds of competition. The fourth and final round features Mercury Racing on the ballot and runs until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The winner will be announced at 12:45 p.m. on October 8 at the WMC Foundation’s Business and Industry Luncheon.
