A 63-year-old man is missing and presumed drowned in the city of Plymouth after trying to retrieve his dog in the Mullet River. Plymouth Police Chief Jeffrey Tauschek said in a news release last night that the man’s family reported him missing early yesterday afternoon…after he’d last been seen in the downtown area about 12:30 am Thursday. Authorities say the dog had jumped into the river but was later found by a friend.
Search efforts for the man were started Thursday, until being suspended by darkness last evening. Operations are expected to resume this morning with Plymouth police requesting the assistance of the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department Drone Team and a helicopter from the Wisconsin National Guard to check the river. However, search teams were experiencing difficulties…due to the high-water levels & fast-moving current.
