Eight rare snakes born at the Milwaukee County Zoo are already very popular. The rhinocernos vipers rarely breed — so their birth has gained a lot of attention. The zoo has three adults and the eight babies now makes it the largest group of rhino vipers at any zoo in North America. The brightly colored snakes which pack a potent venom are native to west and central Africa. The zoo plans to keep one of the female babies and donate the rest to other zoos around the country.
