
The Valders Boys claimed the runnerup position Saturday at the annual Len Nikolai Cross Country Invitational, held at Meadow Links Golf Course. Stevens Point, the 2nd ranked team In Division-1 placed 1st with 35 points, followed by the Vikings with 87.
Host Manitowoc Lincoln took 7th out of 22 teams. Clay Taylor & Shane Griepentrog finished 4th & 5th respectively for Valders, the state’s top-ranked squad in D-2. The Ships were led by Max Bailey and Sam Jacobson, who were 20th and 21st in the race. The Lincoln Girls wound-up 11th out of 22 schools led by Libby Meyer, the 35th overall runner.
The Vikings were 14th out of 18 teams in the mostly large-school field and Avery Kauth wound-up in 56th place.
Lincoln Ships Cross Country Coach, Michael Bubolz, praised Steve Skarda & his employees at Meadow Links for allowing them to host the annual invite and doing such an outstanding job preparing the course for all the runners.
