The school year is still very young, but there have already been several threats made to area schools, and over the weekend, Manitowoc Lincoln High School is now a part of that group. A parent of a student at Lincoln expressed concern on Facebook that there was an active shooter warning for this morning, but a representative from the Manitowoc Police Department told SeehaferNews.com that the threat was deemed to not be credible. A news release was not provided and school officials have said that further details are not being released at this time.
This is now the fifth such threat that has been reported in the area, with 2 coming from Sheboygan South High School, one from Sheboygan Falls Middle School, and another from Notre Dame High School.
UPDATE 12:59 p.m.: Per school officials, further information is not being released at this time. The Manitowoc Police Department took to their Facebook page to comment on what people are seeing on social media today.
“There have been some rumors going around on social media, so we are posting this message to dispel those rumors. After an investigation this weekend we have found no credible threat of school violence. We were able to identify a person who admitted to writing a message as a joke and did not mean for anyone to see the message nor cause any issues. We have worked with the Manitowoc Public School District during this investigation and are more than satisfied that this was not a credible threat.”
UPDATE 8:00 a.m.: The Manitowoc Public School District released (via Facebook) the email that was sent to parents this morning.
