Holy Family Memorial President and CEO, Brett Norell thanked the community for supporting the Lakeshore landmark while speaking with SeehaferNews.com about a public open house tomorrow at the Western Avenue campus celebrating the 120th anniversary of the original Holy Family Hospital. Norell says that September 28th marks the actual date the doors were opened in 1899. “It’s not just about a healthcare entity,” he explained. “It’s about really being rooted in this community, and serving all here, and meeting their needs for mind, body and spirit.”
The HFM CEO also mentioned the bravery of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, who “answered the call to provide healthcare services to a very busy port.” He went into a bit of the history of the hospital, saing that when they opened up they had 45 beds, and had the most modern hospital in the state, with ventilation, electricity and an elevator. Norell added, they’ve had continued growth, always in response to need.
