Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director, Travis Waack says the siren maintenance of the Point Beach Nuclear Plant has been delayed. Work that was scheduled to occur from September 16th thru the 27th will now take place between September 30th and October 11th. No specific reason was given for the delay. Point Beach will be performing maintenance on multiple sirens within ten miles of the plant. Waack says that during testing residents may hear actual siren activations for approximately one to three minutes and notice activity going on around the siren sites. If unsure whether the activities may be related to the maintenance to call 683- 4201 for verification and in the event of an actual emergency call 911.
