Two of the best Girls Volleyball teams in the Fox River Classic Conference met last night at JFK Fieldhouse. Fans were treated to a 4-set match…won by visiting Bay Port over Manitowoc Lincoln: 25-16, 20-25, 25-16 and 25-20. Ships senior leader, Katie DiRaimondo was injured early in the 3rd set.
In Boys Soccer: Appleton East defeated host Manitowoc Lincoln 3-0. Caleb Maes had 12-saves in goal for the Ships, who drop to 0-7.
In Cross Country: Valders hosted the 29th annual Bob Burzynski Invitational and the Vikings captured the Boys title with 17-points, compared to 92..for runnerup Oostburg. Shane Griepentrog was the top runner in the 15-school field in a time of 16-minutes, 42-seconds. Clay Taylor was 2nd in 16:54 for the top-ranked team in State Division-2. Mishicot was 5th as a team led by Kory Wiegert’s 15th place finish Reedsville was 7th, and the Panthers top finish was turned in by Matt Oswald at #18.
On the Girls’ side, Valders was 3rd paced by Avery Kauth, who was 7th, Reedsville was 4th led by Mikayla Junk (yunk) at #9 and Mishicot’s Mikayla Gove came in 5th overall.
