What will come of the recent announcement that a “concerned citizen” would pay $100,000 for information leading to the “real killer” of Theresa Halbach? A veteran New York Police Officer doesn’t think it will help. Joe Giacalone has handled a multitude of reward cases, and he called the announcement a long shot. He asked “How much publicity do you need? This has been crowd sourced to death.”
Kathleen Zellner, the attorney for Steven Avery posted the announcement on Twitter on September 9th, and as of this morning, around 2,400 people have re-tweeted it.
Avery was convicted in 2007 of killing Halbach back in 2005 at his family’s auto salvage yard. His nephew Brendan Dassey is also serving time for the murder of the freelance photographer.
