Members of Congress from Minnesota and Wisconsin are calling on the federal government to release 100-million dollars for flood repairs along the Mississippi River. Representatives Angie Craig, Betty McCollum and Ron Kind wrote the Office of Management and Budget pushing for distribution of the funding for the Army Corps of Engineers. The money was included in the Disaster Relief Act signed into law in June but has not been disbursed. The lawmakers say the immediate concern remains to keep the Mississippi River operational for commercial use, which requires additional dredging because of excess sediment build-up this spring.
