Stevens Point Police Dog Dies From Eating Poisonous Mushroom

The Stevens Point Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own four-legged officers. Luna the police dog died after ingesting a poisonous mushroom on Monday. She was taken to the vet with seizures and rushed to the Fox Valley animal referral center where she was unresponsive for a day before losing her battle early Wednesday. Chief Tom Zenner says Luna served the community honorably and was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She was one of the department’s first K-9 officers and was trained in drug detection and apprehension.
