A 16-year-old Sheboygan resident is in custody as the result of a second threat made to Sheboygan South High School in as many days. Police say a concerned parent contacted them saying they had seen a social media post inferring the threat to the High School. A joint investigation by law enforcement and the Sheboygan Area School District determined that the suspect said the threat wasn’t credible and there is not believed to be an actual threat to the school or community. Classes weren’t interrupted and the student was arrested and referred to juvenile authorities.
This is a separate investigation from the threat reported yesterday where a 15-year-old South High Student was taken into custody following a social media post threatening the school. The two incidents are not believed to be related to each other.
Sheboygan Police and the Sheboygan Area School District emphasize that they take such threats “very seriously” and encourage parents to speak with their children about the seriousness and ramifications of such threats and to monitor their children’s social media accounts.
