It is back to school time, which means parents of students will have to head off to the store to buy school supplies. We spoke with Michele Reinen from the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, who said that shoppers should pay close attention to the ads for any sales they see. “We wanna make sure consumers aren’t disappointed when they get to the cash register,” Reinen said. “We are reminding consumers to really review any ads that they see for restrictions.” Some of the restrictions that could be implemented include sale hours and return options.
Another thing to look at in the ad is the details of the product on sale. Reinen explained that some sales only count for a specific model or color of a product. She went on to say to be sure you are “comparing apples to apples” when you look at the different sales available.
All students will be back in school next Friday in the Manitowoc School District, but other districts have already begun classes.
