Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland is ranked second in the nation for two-year American Colleges and universities that serve adult learners by Washington Monthly. This bimonthly nonprofit magazine of United States politics and the government is the only publication in the country to rank the best educational institutions for adult learners who comprise nearly a third of all college students nationwide (25 and older).
LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen says that this ranking is a direct reflection on the hard-working staff whose mission it is to serve the needs of the community and enhance opportunities for all to experience positive differences in student outcomes. Dr. Carlsen says LTC has added more on-line and accelerated courses to help students balance their work lives with college along with investing in support services including their childcare center—career placement—academic support—peer tutoring. The LTC President adds they continue to work hard to make it easier for LTC students to enroll and transfer to four-year institutions.
Future plans for the local college include investing in the recently opened satellite campus in downtown Manitowoc along with breaking ground to build a new culinary kitchen on the Cleveland campus next January.
