Experience the roots of Wisconsin’s agricultural past during two action-filled days of antique farming re-creations, hands-on demonstrations, farmhand contests, food, and much more at the Mid-Lakes Thresheree on September 7 and 8, 10 am to 4 pm, presented in partnership between the Mid-Lakes Rustic Iron Club and the Manitowoc County Historical Society. The event is held at the Manitowoc County Historical Society, 924 Pinecrest Road, Manitowoc.
Whether it’s making butter in the Cheese Factory, seeing antique farm machines at work, or an exciting stroll through 25 interactive historic structures, there’s always something happening at the Thresheree. Activities on site include live field demonstrations with operating farm equipment from the 1890’s through 1960’s; Hands-on agricultural activities and contests; and steam engines. There will also be field to fork interactive demonstrations and farmhand contests for all ages. A children’s farm auction will be held both days at 2 pm where youth can complete chores throughout the day to “earn” money to buy an item at the auction. A full schedule of activities can be found at ManitowocCountyHistory.org/programs/thresheree.
The feature for the 2019 show is “Oliver Tractors and Equipment”. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day. On Sunday, FFA and 4H participants receive free admission and a non-denominational church service will be held at 10:15 am at the Niles Community Church.
Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children age 4 to 17 and free for those under age 4. MCHS and MLRI Members receive free admission. No carry-ins are allowed. Because MCHS’ Pinecrest Historical Village simulates the rural environment of the 1800s and early 1900s, some exhibit areas have limited accessibility. This is due to the scale used in historic restorations and the rural setting. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals requiring wheelchairs for mobility. During the Thresheree, trams are equipped to transport visitors.
The event is made possible with support from Bank First National, Country Visions, CP Feeds, Madson’s Service—St. Nazianz, WI, Manitowoc Disposal, Thompson Machinery, and Verve, A Credit Union.
