After three years of hosting the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic, the Oneida Nation has decided to no longer be the title sponsor of the event. The latest LPGA Classic took place in early July, but the committee voted 5-3 to end their title sponsorship. Reports are indicating the event did not bring in as much money as the Oneida Nation was hoping, and they didn’t meet their financial goals for the first two years of the event. It was expected that more people would attend, but attendance numbers were not as high as anticipated, and of those who did attend most were from the surrounding area. This means the projected numbers for overnight hotel stays and casino visitors did not meet expectations either.
