A 34-year-old south side Manitowoc woman is free on a $3,000 recognizance bond after police took her into custody late Tuesday night. She was found asleep behind the steering wheel of her vehicle on the city’s south side. Amanda S. Perronne faces charges of felony Child Neglect, Possession of a schedule-1 drug and being in Possession of drug paraphenalia.
Officers were called to the 700-block of S. 18th Street for the report of a female who was sleeping behind the steering wheel of her van for several hours while a small child was buckled into a rear-facing car seat. An initial investigation led officers to believe Perronne was under the influence of some-type-of drug. A substance found in her purse tested positive for fentanyl and other items located include a loaded needle, digital pocket-scale and a glass smoking device. She was taken to Holy Family Memorial, medically cleared and then transported to the County Jail. A little boy was found in good health, buckled into a rear-facing car seat.
Conditions of bail are that Perronne maintain absolute sobriety and have “no contact with her children unless permitted by Human Services. Her initial hearing is scheduled for September 16th at 1:30.
