A Neenah man who forced an eight-hour standoff with authorities last February can avoid prison time — if he obeys the rules of his probation. Daniel Maher was sentenced Monday in Winnebago County Court. He was placed on two years probation for failing to comply with an officer attempting to take a person into custody. A second felony charge was dropped. A nearby middle school was forced to cancel classes for the day.
