A La Crosse County judge told an 18-year-old defendant he was “lucky” to be standing in the courtroom. Judge Todd Bjerke says in most jurisdictions, Sean T. Suiter would have been shot. Suiter and three other men were shouting and starting fights with staff members at the Days Inn motel in the town of Campbell last Wednesday. Suiter is charged with threatening a law enforcement officer, obstructing an officer and two counts of disorderly conduct. 19 old Terrell Sanders, 21 year-old Jacob Owens and 23 year-old John Owens were also taken into custody.
