Only a few days after a piece of construction equipment struck a power line, leaving approximately 1400 MPU customers without power, another 170 customers lost power early this morning. The cause this time, according to MPU Key Accounts and Meter Services Manager Dan Salm, was an underground cable failure. The outage began at 2:01 AM, affecting businesses and residences between Franklin and Washington Streets, from S. 7th Street to S. 17th Street. MPU crews restored service to all customers at 3:40 AM.
