A highly traveled portion of highway on Manitowoc’s west-side was officially reopened to traffic late yesterday afternoon and, well ahead of schedule. County Highway Commissioner Marc Holsen says Rapids Road from Broadway Street to West Custer, opened again at 4:05 pm, after being closed for the Manitowoc River Bridge Replacement & Highway Reconstruction since January 2nd. Initial indications were that the project would cause Rapids Road to be shut down for approximately 9-months, but construction personnel completed the work in a little over 7 months.
