Fugitive On The Run For 3 Years Makes First Appearance In Portage County Court

A man wanted for sex crimes made an appearance in Portage County Circuit Court Monday — after three years as a fugitive.  Jeremiah Button was arrested at his hiding place last Friday.  Authorities say he was living in the side of a hill in Marathon County where he had the ability to make electricity and to have portable water and a septic system.  Button was tracked down when authorities got a tip about someone seen along the Ice Age Trail in Ringle.  Button is charged with child porn possession and sexual assault of a child under 12.  He returns to court next month.
