In what seems to be a rising trend in Manitowoc, another man was arrested after he assaulted and strangled his girlfriend with a belt. The Manitowoc Police Department dispatched officers to a home in the 1200 block of South 11th Street at around 8:30 Friday evening, and found the victim on the front porch. She told the responding officers that she had stopped by her 34 year old boyfriend’s home after she found herself dosing off while behind the wheel. The victim told officers that he “freaked out” when she explained the situation, and slammed her head into a vanity twice, and began to strangle her with a belt. The man was taken into police custody, and was charged with disorderly conduct, and strangulation, both with domestic violence orders. There were two instances last week where a man attacked his significant other as well.
