Packers head coach Matt LaFleur says the defense won Sunday’s shortened practice, claiming 10 of the 11 team period reps. The only win for the offense came on a long T-D pass from Aaron Rodgers to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Cornerback Kevin King missed the action with a hamstring injury, but it isn’t known how serious it is. Kicker Mason Crosby took the practice field for the first time after missing the first eight practices with a thigh injury. The Packers first preseason game is coming up Thursday against the Texans.
Also a Tuesday news conference will be held to announce that veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson is going to retire from pro football as a Packer. Nelson caught 550 passes for 69 touchdowns in 10 seasons with Green Bay. He was a second-round selection in the 2008 N-F-L Draft after a college career at Kansas State. Nelson spent the 11th and final season of his career in Oakland in 2018.
