Parents and students expect to spend more than ever on back-to-school shopping this year, according to the National Retail Federation’s annual survey. If you, or a student in your life, is shopping for books, clothes, school supplies, backpacks or other items, be sure to keep a few things in mind. Jot everything down on a list and stick to it. Impulse buying can jack up your overall total in a hurry. Be sure to take a look around the house to make sure you don’t already have some of the items that the student will need. Look for sales so you can save a few bucks, especially on big-ticket items like laptops. Some places will also offer a student discount, so don’t be afraid to ask. Lastly, if you plan on shopping online, be sure to use safe, secure websites to avoid being scammed.
