Students at Shiocton High School will notice one important rule change very quickly when they return to class. The district says those students can carry purses and their school-supplied computer bags to class, but those big, bulky backpacks will have to remain in their lockers. The decision was made after a year-long study. School officials say the backpacks had become a safety issue — especially if students and staff had to evacuate a class quickly.
