A 19-year old man was taken into custody at the Manitowoc Wal-Mart yesterday morning on charges of Retail Theft & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Officers were called to the Calumet Avenue store shortly after 8:00 am for a theft in progress. The subject’s clothing and backpack were searched for any items belonging to the retailer. During the search, police located approximately $370 worth of merchandise and baggies containing what was confirmed to be crystal meth. The young male told police he stole the items because he didn’t have a job and was having problems where he was currently living. He then explained to police that he was stealing to pay his friend’s rent, where he was hoping to live.
