
The City of Sheboygan recently was named one of the 159 awardees in the 2019 AARP Community Challenge Grant program. In a news release, the City stated that they will use the grant to “enhance our downtown historical walking tour of 100+ historic structures and events with signage, an online app, and paper maps for non-computer/smartphone users.” AARP received more than 1,660 applications from nonprofits and government entities, resulting in a highly competitive selection process. A total of nearly $1.6 million was distributed to fund 159 quick-action projects across the country, helping communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages.
