Manitowoc police have arrested 22-year-old Justice Rezacheck and 22-year-old Jessica Herman for the overdose death of a 55-year-old man.
Detective Sergeant Mike Stone said today that the two subjects were taken into custody yesterday afternoon and are each being held on charges of party to the crime of Reckless Homicide & Delivery of Heroin.
The arrests stem from the May 3rd death of Gene Rezachek in the 1100-block of South 23rd Street. Fond du lac County Medical Examiner Adam Covach listed the victim’s cause of death as “clonazepam & heroin toxicity.”
When officers were dispatched to the man’s residence, they found Rezachek deceased in a bedroom with a syringe, a spoon, latex tourniquet and foil packaging commonly used to package drugs such as heroin near his body.
After appearing in court this afternoon, bail was set at $10 thousand cash for Rezachek and $5 thousand cash for Herman. Conditions of bail are that both defendants are to not have contact with each other. Herman’s bail was posted while Rezachek remains in the County Jail. Initial appearances are scheduled for August 5th at 1:30.
