
The Manitowoc County Mariners used some big plays on both sides of the ball yesterday afternoon to post a 27-19 road win over the Milwaukee County Chargers at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. With the win the Mariners of Coach Marcos Alfaro improve to 3-3 in the Mid-States Football League while the Chargers fell to 1-5.
Wes Dimmick of Two Rivers scored on a 63 yard pass from Marcos Alfaro Junior in the first quarter to open the scoring, and Alfaro added a rushing touchdown. Defensively, Richard Zachow had 3 sacks. Will Dickey totaled 4 tackles & a forced fumble while the Mariners defense had 4 interceptions.
Manitowoc County can nail down a playoff spot next Saturday when it returns to Ron Rubick Municipal Field for a 4:00 o’clock kickoff against the Leyden Illinois Lions. It’s also the Mariners final Home game of the regular season.
