It has been three full days since the storm that ravaged Wisconsin, and there are still several thousand people without power. Matt Cullen, the Senior Communications Specialist for the WEC Energy Group, stated in a news release last night that there are still 22,000 customers of Wisconsin Public Service and We Energies that have not had their electric service restored. Cullen stated that “Crews taking part in the restoration efforts are continuing to work around the clock to restore service as safely and as quickly as possible.” The crews have made a lot of progress in the past three days however, getting roughly 263,000 customers back on the grid. More updates will be available later in the day.
The strong winds from that storm also severely damaged several large pine trees, and broke the limbs of some of the larger trees at West of the Lake Gardens. Don Cisler, Head Gardener and Horticulturist, said “We’re lucky that very little damage was done to the flower beds, but the clean-up will take at least a few more days. We hope to reopen to the public by Friday”.
