Baraboo emergency responders evacuated a neighborhood Tuesday afternoon when a utility crew hit an underground high-pressure gas line while digging. Witnesses say gas could be heard whistling as it escaped. Alliant Energy was able to repair the break and people were allowed to return home, but some gas service may not be restored until this (Wednesday) morning. No injuries were reported.
