Whitewater police say a 22-year-old man accused of violating a court order swam into Cravath Lake last weekend trying to avoid arrest. Police had taken Ramiro E. Soto into custody for violating the order, but he broke free while officers were changing his handcuffs to a transport belt. A boat was deployed and Soto was quickly spotted, but he wasn’t actually pulled out of the water until three hours after his original arrest. Soto had been seen drinking alcohol at a Whitewater bar in violation of the court order.
