There are still some people without power in Manitowoc County following a severe line of thunderstorms that moved through eastern and northeastern Wisconsin, Saturday afternoon. Rick and Denise Elfering reside along County Highway O in the town of Two Rivers. Denise tells SeehaferNews.com she feels kind of like they’re camping out. “We were fortunate enough to collect rain water,” she said. “We are able to flush our toilets by flushing the rain water down.”
While there were a few trees that went down on their property, Denise is looking on the positive side of things, saying “Some of them are probably a blessing that they went anyways.” They are also a lot like many homeowners, and have a lot of branches to clean up.
Elfering said they’re also fortunate because they have a little camper in the yard, which runs on propane. She told us that they have been heating up water on the gas powered oven to take sponge baths. They have also used the stove to make food.
Meanwhile, we were told that Seven Lakes, the subdivision nearby and a chunk of S in that area near Whitelaw are also still down. And, while service is on in the village of Whitelaw phone lines are still down in the community.
