Almost all the power is back on after an explosion and fire this morning at Madison Gas and Electric’s main power center downtown (Friday). There was a second fire at a substation near the U-W campus. Fire Chief Steven Davis says they were able to put the fire out quickly at the main power center once they shut off the equipment. M-G-E officials had to help de-energize the system. Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency in Madison and Dane County and closed state buildings.
