Next Wednesday, the NEW Zoo and Adventure Park in Green Bay will be celebrating Lion Conservation Day. Lions are a vulnerable species, which means their populations are declining and the species may become endangered without help from humans. There are currently only around 350 African lions at 100 AZA accredited zoos in the United States, and the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is proud to have two of those lions on exhibit. During Lion Conservation Day, zoo guests can enjoy a variety of free activities, including a Lion Discovery Station, spray tattoos, a bounce house, plus children’s games and crafts. At the Discovery Station, guests will learn about lion conservation efforts underway in Africa, and have the opportunity to help wild lions. The timing of this event could not be better, with the remake of The Lion King debuting in box offices on Friday.
