A major fundraiser to help those diagnosed with cancer generated thousands of dollars over the weekend in Manitowoc. The 9th annual Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure was held Friday night with Gumby’s Glow Walk/Run and Sunday with Gumby’s Annual Golf Outing and Bowling. Rob Roseff tells Seehafer News that never in his wildest dreams did he think their 9th year would break so many records. “The Glow Run on Friday night had a record amount of runners and walkers and Sunday was absolutely spectacular. We had 74 foursomes of golfers, 16 bowling teams and a record crowd that came out, had a hamburger, listened to some great music and just had a great time. It’s all for the cause, there’s no other explanation for it. It’s all about giving back to the community.”
Rob’s wife and co-founder, Denise, talked about local support for this event, “We are very blessed because the community supports us so much, in so many different ways. Between the corporate sponsorships, volunteering, and donations for our silent auctions and raffles. The community comes together for the community and that’s what this is all about.”
During the testimonial portion of the golf and bowling fundraiser at Meadow Lanes North, Brennan Seehafer on behalf of Brennan Seehafer Productions, Vic Ferrari Enterprises, and The Wharf Manitowoc, presented a check for $10,000 dollars to Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure. Gumby’s Club provided over 100 volunteers to assist with the refreshment sales at the Vic Ferrari Concert on July 3rd in downtown Manitowoc. Roseff said, “To be honest with you it broke us both down incredibly with a lot of emotion and I think it brought out a lot of tears from everybody at the event. He’s a class act and a class kid.”
Rob explained that he and Brennan have a mutual friend who was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer.
Denise Roseff said “it’s incredible” the amount of support they receive. “I just look in awe of everything that is going on and all the people that are here. It’s just really special. People can visit our website, we have a recipient application on there if they know someone that is dealing with cancer. That’s www.gumbysclubforacure.org or check out our Facebook page to get more information on how we are helping people.”
A committee meets at regular intervals to review a list of people in the community who have been affected by cancer. Gumby’s Club tries to help them out financially, emotionally, spiritually and anyway they can.
