A staple of Manitowoc’s downtown area, Warrens Restaurant, was shut down by Manitowoc County after they failed to comply with a State policy. The policy, which is relatively new, requires restaurants to have a certified food manager on staff. Warrens was issued a 120-day notice to rectify the situation but failed to do so. If the owners wish to reopen the establishment, they must re-apply for a restaurant license, like every new restaurant does when they open, a process they have begun to do. However, they can apply as many times as they want, but if they do not have a certified food manager on staff, the county will not issue them another restaurant license.
